This being was revealed through an intension based Hapé ceremony. Under the guidance of a Artist from South America, we channeled the energy of the jungle to manifest a vision of our own spiritual warrior. Aided by Icaros - magic tribal songs and under the influence of heavy doses of insufflated mapacho – Amazonian ceremonial Tobacco, the being appeared. Like most ceremonial healing modalities, my ego was confronted and shattered in the process. It was the first time I had ever tried painting human or animal realism albeit anamorphic. While I was struggling to translate the vision in my mind to the canvas, I also had trouble with the relationship with my Artist friend. The combination resulted in heavy levels of frustration, and resentment. Weeks were spent, and progress waxed and waned until I eventually put down the painting. Its energy was so negative that I wouldn’t bring it to my home. A year after its conception, I was speaking to another artist about the work and what to do with it. She gave me two suggestions: 1. Burn it and release it the Earth! or 2. Revitalize it with new energy and finish the painting. After arriving at the decision to change its energy and imbue more love and healing prayers into it, I began reworking the entire painting. There isn’t a single part of this painting that hasn’t been repainted and cleansed of the negative energy.Looking back, I have deep admiration for this process. This being has shown me so many faces of itself – better yet of myself. The painting taught me how to have compassion for myself and others, regardless of where they are in their journey. I was shown the darkness to work on my “demons” before bringing me anew into the light. This painting is the moment the sun hit me as I returned strong and centered into the light.
